How Sombat Legal Came to Be
Sombat Legal was founded in 2009 by Khun Sombat Charoenwong, a Thai lawyer who spent his early career watching families navigate estate matters without adequate support. Too often, he found that people arrived at a solicitor's office already anxious, having received little in the way of plain explanation.
He set out to build a small, focused practice where families could speak openly about their situation — and leave with a clearer picture of it. From the beginning, Sombat Legal has worked only in inheritance law. That focus has shaped everything about how we work.
Today our team of four is based in Phra Nakhon, central Bangkok. We work with families from across Thailand and with those who hold assets here but reside abroad. Whatever the scale of the estate, we give the same careful attention.

Founder & Principal Lawyer
Practising inheritance law since 2001. Holds a Master's in Private Law from Chulalongkorn University and is a member of the Lawyers Council of Thailand.
Niracha Phongphan
Senior Legal Associate
Specialises in succession document preparation and estate administration. Nine years of experience with estates involving both Thai and foreign assets.
Wanchai Sukhon
Legal Adviser & Dispute Specialist
Advises families in contested matters with a preference for resolution over prolonged proceedings. Formerly with the Bangkok Civil Court system for six years.

Our Practice
Inheritance Legal Services in Bangkok
Sombat Legal works solely in the area of Thai succession law. This focus means our team has developed depth of knowledge that a general practice cannot replicate. We deal regularly with matters under the Thai Civil and Commercial Code, including estate administration, will disputes, executor duties, and the position of heirs under intestate succession.
Our clients come to us at different stages. Some have not yet lost a family member but want to understand what their position would be. Others are dealing with an estate that has already been opened and find the paperwork difficult to manage. Others still are facing a situation where family members cannot agree. In every case, we begin by listening.
